Philosophy of Art
As an artist I am interested in emotions, and how art uniquely provokes emotions. Any and every form of art has an inherent ability to make people feel certain ways, and I believe that is a primary principle of what makes something art, and a necessary component for good art. I place emotion at the core of my work. Whether it is an act of personal expression of my own felt emotions, or an attempt to draw out emotions from others. My current physical paintings lean into abstract expressionism, where I focus on something that causes me to experience strong emotions, and allow those emotions to be expressed on a canvas. Much of my work currently features a deep matte black, texture, and bright contrasting colors. I hope to guide people into a deeper emotive experience with abstract art than the confusion or disdain that is most often felt with the form.
